The Retreat
Designed as a private residence by Swedish architect, Inger Thede, the house which sits on one acre of farm forest land gathers the best of contemporary Scandinavian design, Indian craftsmanship, sustainable engineering and landscape empathy under one roof.

The Chef
At the heart of this journey are masterclasses with Chef Gayatri Desai, a trailblazer in India’s evolving culinary scene and a master of fermentation. Guided by her expertise, you’ll explore the art of fermentation, from foraging for local produce to crafting your own preserves and ferments, gaining insight into sustainable and artisanal food practices.

The View
At 1,850 meters in Satoli, Uttarakhand, you’ll find yourself facing the towering peaks of Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Nandakot. The altitude offers a unique vantage point, where the sharp silhouettes of the Himalayas dominate the landscape. With distinct seasons that sometimes shift within a single day, Satoli reflects the raw, ever-changing rhythm of the mountains.

7th February, 2024
Arrival & Ice Breakers
Begin your journey to Spacehouse Villa with a scenic 20-minute hike through lush forest trails from Satoli village. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by our dedicated masters of experience, who will guide you into an engaging icebreaker session, giving you the perfect opportunity to connect with your fellow travelers.

Wood-Fired Pizzas & Wine
After settling into your rooms, make your way to the bonfire pit, where the evening comes alive with the aroma of fresh wood-fired pizzas crafted by our chefs using handpicked, locally sourced ingredients. End the night with a curated tasting of four exceptional New World vintage wines from Asia, each thoughtfully selected to complement the region’s flavors.

Cacao Tasting & Forest Walk
Start your morning with a guided cacao tasting ceremony by Oona’s expert chocolatiers. Using cacao as a medium for self-reflection and connection, the experience includes the preparation of the drink and guided prompts. This is followed by a sensory forest exploration, where cacao heightens your awareness of nature’s sounds, textures, and scents.

Kumaoni Lunch
Indulge in the flavors of traditional Kumaoni cuisine, prepared by locals from Satkhol village. Enjoy dishes like madua roti, bhang chutney, wild greens saag, aloo gutke, seasonal dal, and jhongora kheer, all made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

The Art of Fermentation Masterclass
Immerse yourself in the art of fermentation with Chef Gayatri. Explore the region’s produce and uncover its unique flavors, then dive into a hands-on workshop to create delicious ferments like miso paste and koji, all crafted with the skilled direction and insight of a true master.

Dinner Under the Stars
Dine beneath the stars as the Savor team crafts a five-course degustation menu that celebrates the region’s indigenous vegetables, skillfully prepared over open flames to highlight the region's rich, natural flavors.

Sauna & Relaxation
Begin your day with an optional sauna session overlooking the snow-capped Himalayas. Enter the natural wood sauna, letting the gentle heat and steam relax your body and mind. Balance the experience with a refreshing cold dip in the nearby tub, a revitalizing practice that energizes and restores.

Ancient Grains Masterclass
Join Chef Gayatri for a masterclass exploring the region’s ancient grains, their health benefits, and their role in indigenous traditions. Learn traditional preparation methods and discover how to incorporate these grains into modern cuisine.

Architecture Walk
Hosted by Priti and Ghanshyam, this tour offers an inside look at Spacehouse, a unique architectural experiment in the Himalayas. Set on a nearly off-grid, one-acre property, discover its sustainable resource use, innovative technologies, and the craftsmanship behind its living materials. Explore the design choices and hear behind-the-scenes stories from its seven-year journey to completion.

Sundowner Drinks & Dinner
As the sun sets, end the day with sundowner drinks over a bonfire crafted from seasonal local fruits, followed by a dinner prepared by our chefs, featuring dishes inspired by the ancient grains highlighted in the earlier masterclass.

Stargazing
End your journey with a guided stargazing experience led by the Starscapes team. Using their Mobile Observatory, explore the Milky Way and celestial bodies like Jupiter, the Moon, and Orion through a powerful telescope. Learn to spot seasonal constellations and hear the mythological stories behind them.
